The case report of a bed sore
wound with deep ulcer

- 91 year old patient Lj. P. suffering from Alzheimer’s disease
for 10 years


- patient had decubitus in the right bottom for approximately
5 months prior to treatment with PBI-300


- prior to treatment with PBI-300, patient has been treated
unsuccessfully with various medications such as: antibiotic
ointments and sprays, antiseptic ointments, protective dermal
sheets etc.


- treated by physician, with prior written permission of the
patient’s family, with thin film of 0.1% PBI-300.

DAY 0

-wound size: 10 cm x 7 cm
-two tissue defects:
1) proximal-ulcer (1cm x 1.5cm x 3-5cm deep)
2) distal- missing tissue
-no visible epithelization
-pus present on the wound
 

DAY 5

-wound slightly smaller
in size
-beginning of
epithelization (starting
from the wound edges)
-pus present on the
wound

 

DAY 10

-epithelization more pronounced
-first islets of epithelia
(starting from the middle of wound)
- distal tissue defect being replaced
with granulation tissue
-pus over the wound surface decreased

 

DAY 15

-epithelization further in progress
-islets of epithelia more pronounced
-no more pus except in the ulcer area
-no visible signs of ulcer contraction

-no pus
-beginning of pigmentation (1 spot)

-epithelization advanced
-first signs of ulcer closure
-two spots of pigmentation

-epithelization very pronounced
